Synopsis

When an undercover cop gets too close to revealing the mastermind of a drug syndicate, his cover is blown. Double-crossed and under a false identity, he’s thrown into a Thai prison, where a guard discovers the inmate – claiming he’s a cop – is a bone marrow match for his dying daughter…and his warden may have an even deadlier operation hidden within the prison walls.

In this giddily frenetic follow-up (though not a sequel) to modern martial arts epic KILL ZONE (aka SPL: SHA PO LANG), action icons Tony Jaa (ONG BAK, THE PROTECTOR) Wu Jing (WOLF WARRIOR) and Zhang Jin (IP MAN 3) team up with Hong Kong megastars Simon Yam and Louis Koo for a breakneck story of dirty cops, prison riots, and black market organ transplants, all brought together by a non-stop series of inventive, bone-crunching setpieces.

My Thoughts

Kill Zone 2 is a Sequel to the Highly entertaining Film Kill Zone. This go around we Tony Jaa jumping in playing a correctional officer with a Daughter who is very ill. Wu Jing is back playing an Undercover cop who winds up inside the jail Tony works at. Story focuses around Kidnappings and Organs with Jing making his way in on the inside but gets captured and set up. Jaa is in for a ride as he slowly finds out the story.

The story was a good one but a tad confusing if you look away do to the back and forth past shots and jumping forward to present time. Action wise was great, Hard hitting with Jaa and Jing battling out against each other a few times. Not a ton of action first half but it picks up along with the gun slinging making the action a point to get the film. Knives get to cutting raid style and the ending fight is worth it alone. Yet the story is still intriguing as well. Now the film is somewhat a Sequel but all charters are different and don’t relate in that way. Wish we still could have gotten a Donnie yen in a scene or two but that’s why Jaa jumped in. The tone of the film gets gritty and dark at times but also a portion of it is heart.

Overall the movie was a great watch an a perfect mach for action seekers who love, martial arts with hard-hitting action and stunts. The film is 2 hours but you will get sucked in and not realizing as time ticks. The film has English dubbing and also tries to let you know when characters don’t understand each other or watch the original soundtrack with will make a little more sense in that. Personally I viewed the dub as I wanted to not miss any action but did switch back and forth a few times. Yes its weird to hear someone dubbing over Jaa and his mouth moving a minute after the dub is done. My 2nd watch for me will be with the original language which is the way it supposed to be.

With that said I give Kill Zone 2 a 4.5 out of 5 thanks to its story and mostly its action. Wu Jing and Tony Jaa go hard and You don’t want to miss it. A re watch for me some time soon. Go Pick it up.

Note: I Know my speakers are way outdated. OPPO Blu-Ray Player is one of the best around and used in most home theaters. The Receiver is pretty good but on the line of out dated. Subwoofer is good with tons of bass but not the theater quality from a $400 Sub. Front speakers are fun with tons of power and are good for standalone’s but higher end sound (Hz) is lower quality. Overall I need to update on all speakers granted I do get decent sound out of them just the higher end falls short.
