Picture Quality

Disc Format: DVD good, sharp with good coloring but what lacks is at times we have a softer picture and some pixelation can be seen on distant shots on faces. Blu-Ray HD would have crushed this film in PQ as in a Better looking Picture as the coloring and costumes / set looks great

Rating: 2.5 stars

My Thoughts

Phantom of the Theatre is an Elegant Ghost story that feels like a Phantom of the Opera mixed with a smidgen of Sunset Boulevard. Are main Male lead is a Writer Director looking to make his film on set of a haunted Theater while looking for his leading Female role who happens to be are female lead who is a well-known star and seems out of his league. Under that story we also have the haunted theater filled with the souls of performance actress who died in a Fire that may or may not have been set on purpose.

The Story is OK but on the slow side. At times the film doesn’t seem to know where to go as it can get a tad confusing. Horror wise it’s not scary with elements of ghosts and random people burning up through out the film. What does help it on the horror side is the score during those ghostly encounters. The film is on the more Elegant side with a nice horror score. The film is A Ghost story but also a Slasher slash Romance story. The CGI Effect is OK but could use some work on portions. Acting wise it was Decent.

Overall the film was an OK viewing that Medium to a tad bit over Medium ratings but for me I would say its Medium to a tad bit below. Perhaps a Blu-Ray Version would have helped as the set and Costumes looked great and would have loved to see the colors pop. Not a Bad film and I would say if you’re looking for an Elegant Horror story with a good Horror score and over all just looks good visually, Give this film a shot

With that said I Give Phantom of the Theatre a 2.5 out of . Trim it up some and make the film follow one direction and Blu-Ray Release would have made the film a bit better for me.

Note: I Know my speakers are way outdated. OPPO Blu-Ray Player is one of the best around and used in most home theaters. The Receiver is pretty good but on the line of out dated. Subwoofer is good with tons of bass but not the theater quality from a $400 Sub. Front speakers are fun with tons of power and are good for standalone’s but higher end sound (Hz) is lower quality. Overall I need to update on all speakers granted I do get decent sound out of them just the higher end falls short.
