My Thoughts

Wolf Warrior is a Military action film filed with gun fire, snipers and explosions. Of course it’s not all action but I would say maybe 40% of its action. Don’t go in thinking this is your Asian kung fu film or you will be disappointed as it’s a war/ military film with 2 small hand to hand scenes. Jacky Wu is great in this and ends it with a Shoot out / Knife fight with Scott Adkins which was pretty good.

The disappointing parts of the film I would say is the Use of CGI that made some spots look cartoonish in this realistic like shoot out film. Like a Sniper taking off an arm that looked clean-cut and pretty fake. CGI Wolves make an appearance which I thought was a cool scene but CGI could have used some more work. Some back story but overall the story is just OK.

The Best portion of the film was in the middle of the run time when Jacky Wu was playing war games with his new team which turns deadly and then the chase after Scott along with his team who was after Jacky. The whole shoot out in the woods and the sniper pinning down Jacky’s team was pretty good but the ending fight was most likely the best and wished for it to be longer or at least have another fight scene before hand with Jacky and Scott.

Overall the film was a fun watch and would have been better with out CGI. I Mean do we need to see a fake bullet leave a sniper riffle? Just some smoke and sound effects will do the trick. Yes The CGI is a turn off for me but the Military action and toe two small hand to hand fights helped the film some. The story jut needs some work and I didn’t mind the whole China propaganda portions like the Chinese flag fling in front of the sun or the Rock with Chinese Boy scouts written on it exploding as the last scene. It’s a Chines film so don’t get butt hurt over it as we Americans have the same stuff in are films.

With that said I give this film a 3.5 out of 5. I say pick it up, give it a shot, enjoy the shoot outs and the Scott Adkins vs Jacky Wu fight.
