Synopsis

What do you get if you combine Thanksgiving, American TV star Louise Lasser (Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman), killer 80s synths and some of the most gruesome special effects in all of slasher history courtesy of Ed (Terminator 2) French. Why, it’s Blood Rage of course!

Twins Todd and Terry seem like sweet boys that is, until one of them takes an axe to face of a fellow patron at the local drive-in. Todd is blamed for the bloody crime and institutionalized, whilst twin brother Terry goes free. Ten years later and, as the family gathers around the table for a Thanksgiving meal, the news comes in that Todd has escaped. But has the real killer in fact been in their midst all along? One thing’s for sure, there will be blood and rage!

Shot in 1983 but not released until 1987, Blood Rage (re-cut and shown in theaters as Nightmare at Shadow Woods) is a gloriously gruesome slice of 80s slasher heaven now lovingly restored (in 3 versions no less!) from original vault elements for its first ever official home video release. – Arrow Video

The Sound Quality is Good but not 5 star. Seems a little flat but other than that its sounds good.

Picture Quality

Disc Format: Blu-Ray

The Picture Quality is good not perfect as we do the Twinkle stars in the Black portions of the film and at points faces seem soft. But the film is mostly sharp with good Colors.

My Thoughts

Blood Rage is a Thanksgiving Day Slasher film with good kills, gore along with the sounds of the slicing and axing where great. Now the Whole Thanksgiving theme wasn’t that upfront and probably just showcased in the film or I should say hinted for about a few seconds. The Story is very small and Character build is almost non-existent but doesn’t mean the film is not a good watch and its also not the best watch.

The film for me was a fun watch and I enjoyed the kill scenes as they where pretty cool looking like the first kill when the The killer starts out in the story as a Kid. A guy gets an ax to the face a few times while making out with his girl. The sound effects where great as well when it came to the kills and while we are on the sound the sound track was pretty cool too. Now The acting isn’t so great at spots and at spots it was OK. We do get some Nudity for my viewing pleasures and my perverted mind was also thinking the Mom wanted to make out with her son at one point as she kissed her fully grown son on the mouth while laying in her bed, but hey she was crazy anyway and her role ends with a bang.

Yes the film has its good and bad’s but overall I felt the movie was a fun watch for a slasher with good kills. More kills and more Nudity and better acting would have made the film better along with more Character build on the brothers and perhaps make it a True Thanksgiving slasher by .. you know having more thanksgiving visuals.

With that said I give Blood Rage a 3.5 out of 5 which is what the average rating for this film gets, I Agree with it. I Say if your Slasher film, gore lover, boob viewer, Arrow Video collector type of consumer and film watcher you should pick this film up. P.S. My Copy had a Slip Cover if that fancy’s your Boat. Not only that we also get three version of this film so you can view it 3 times and have 3 different outlooks on the film. Have Fun, I’m off to the next film.
