As the twentieth century breathes its very last, with Britpop at its zenith, twenty-seven-year-old A&R man Steven Stelfox (Hoult) is slashing and burning his way through London’s music industry. Blithely crisscrossing the globe in search of the next megahit—fueled by greed and inhuman quantities of drugs and alcohol—Stelfox freely indulges in an unending orgy of self-gratification. But the industry is changing fast, the hits are drying up, and the only way he’s going to salvage his sagging career is by taking the idea of “cutthroat” to murderous new levels.

My Thoughts

Kill your Friends is a Psycho thriller dealing with the UK music industry mixed in some American Psycho and A Track called Suck My Di#@.

The Story feels kind of like an American Psycho but not as crazy when it comes to the details of Character development and Mind. We follow an insider who signs music talent with an objective goal that’s all about money. What stands in his way are his coworkers who are in-front and are lead feels in-order to get ahead to be promoted he must take out those in his way. The story can run slow at times and switch up its movie style with a Psycho type them to the lead talking into the camera with a happy score running in the back. I wish we could have got more character build up and showcase a more psycho who nit picks at things and a slow progress into a more crazier way of thinking. But we just get the same type of tone from are lead trough out the film. Horror action gore is pretty slim not up to par with other films. We needed more, more death, more gore, and better imagination when it comes to performing those kill scenes. Now We do Get one scene filled with some gore but its a short scene with no build up, just a scene cut to the next.

Overall the movie was a good watch, yes its has ups and downs and I think I wanted to see a different more mentally ill lead with more of a sick mind when it comes to killing but the film is not about killing off but also setting up. The film could be a hit or miss but does get decent reviews most coming in at the middle and for me I’m at this spot.

With that said I give Kill Your Friends a 3 out of 5 as did enjoy the film as we did get a progression on the leads mind. Just with he was more crazy. More death, more gore a boob or two and we could have had something better. Give the trailers a peek, read a few reviews and decide if you want to pick it up. I don’t mind this title sitting on my shelf.
