Picture Quality

Disc Format: Blu-Ray

The Picture Quality for both films is pretty good Sharp details on close-ups and colors look good. Film grain is present and the films do have an older movie look to them as the colors aren’t insanely vibrant mixed with warmer tones.

Thoughts on Killer Dames – Box Set

Killer Dames is a Boxset featuring 2 films directed by Emilio P. Miraglia Titles The Red Queen Kills Seven Times and The Night Evelyn Came out of the Grave. These are Italian Giallo films which are Mystery thrillers sometimes associated with Horror and Crime slasher and Supernatural action.

I Enjoyed both films as both have its ups and down. The first film in the set The Night Evelyn Came Out of the Grave is a good watch and Not because we are bombarded with Nudity but I enjoyed the twists. The Red Queen Kills Seven Times has the more mysterious tone and Loved the Score. The story runs a tad slower and we do get more gore. Oh both story’s involve a Castle. Also both movies have more similarities in the story but if Went in and told, you will know what happens. Lets just say the twists and turns run the within the same lines at times.

Overall both films are good viewing with nudity, Mystery, Death, and both involve some ones mind breaking down or are they…Say What?

With that said I enjoyed this box set and I give it a 4 out of 4 and worthy to sit on the shelf. Go pick it up Arrow Video collectors and Italian Giallo fans. Check the reviews below for both films.

My Thoughts

The Night Evelyn Came out of the Grave is a Gothic Horror Psycho weird at times film. Follow a lunatic as he escapes the Mental Hospital and Hunts Down Redheads to Torture and Kill. Christian Grey Ain’t Got Nothing on Lord Alan Cunningham as he whips and chokes his pick-ups who look like his dead Lover. Filled with Beatings, Mental Breakdowns, Psychosis, Nudity and a S&M Room in a Castle with a few Plot twists that may make everything seem what they might not be….What?

The story is Interesting as are Lead often at times hears voices and is hunting down sexy Redhead prostitutes to kill as they look like his Cheating Wife. We see him going mad, we see him torture women and other odd things that happens to are lead. A Fun Portion is when the Chick like the whole whip play but when things start heating the her face changes to horror as she is cut by the whip. Gore wise we get some but only through lacerations so not much. A Good amount of Nudity can be seen and a Ghost appears at one point but only in the mind of are lead. Horror wise it’s not but creepy it is. The story also has a few twists and turns but I wont share.

Overall the film is was a good watch filled with torture, sex and a mentally insane lead. At times the film can get slow but I enjoyed the build up of this guys break down. I feel it’s a tad bit over the Average.

With that said I Give this film a 3.5 out of 5 and I feel its worthy of the view. More Building of the Main Lead’s breakdown, more gore and add more creepy factor and this would be a more classic film. Pick the boxset up.

My Thoughts

The Red Queen Kills Seven Times drops in as a Psycho type thriller dealing with a Painting that’s tells a story of a Red Queen And Black Queen. The story opens up with two Children playing or I should say one bullying the other which the two children are sisters. The Bullier is obsessed with this painting in her father’s office about a Black Queen Killing The Red Queen. The relation is that the two queens are sisters just like the two children looking at the painting. The Young Sister grabs a Dagger and Proceeds to hack up her sisters doll she stole. The story skips years down the road but we also get a flash back with t the two sisters fighting. The story continues with mysterious murders that surround the good sister in which by this time the younger dark sister is known to be dead…or is she or is it something Else. Holy Shit.

The Plot is good, as it is enjoyable but I wish we got more…. more Flash Backs so we can see the progression of the Mind of the Dark sister and see her breaking point becoming a murderous psycho hunting her sister. The film has a few deaths by dagger and we get a decent amount of gore. Nothing like Japanese Films with Spraying blood but we get to see some stab wounds and bloody clothing. The film also has some Nudity, not a ton. One thing that stands out the most for me is the Score. I enjoyed the score as it’s at times creepy but also cool sounding.

Overall the film is was a good watch. It has it flash with being slow at times but the overall plot was good. Just wish we got more flash backs of the two sisters.

With that said I Give this film a 4 out of 5 to its plot, its mystery tones and psycho murdering Female that I wish was more of a lead role. Pop it in and enjoy.

Note: I Know my speakers are way outdated. OPPO Blu-Ray Player is one of the best around and used in most home theaters. The Receiver is pretty good but on the line of out dated. Subwoofer is good with tons of bass but not the theater quality from a $400 Sub. Front speakers are fun with tons of power and are good for standalone’s but higher end sound (Hz) is lower quality. Overall I need to update on all speakers granted I do get decent sound out of them just the higher end falls short.
