Film Synopsis

From the director of CANDYMAN and the producers of PARANORMAL ACTIVITY comes a found-footage nightmare of lust, possession, and destruction. Jill’s an artist. Ian’s a filmmaker. And their love life is off the chain. There’s no experience too wild, no dare too dangerous – not even when Jill lets Ian strap her to a gurney in the abandoned hospital they’re scoping out for their next art show. But he shouldn’t have left her alone. Not even as a joke. Now, Jill’s hookup with horror has awakened something in that place. Something with a lust for more than flesh.

The Sound Quality is good. I give a lower rating due to camera holder is more muffled / hall sounding as they are holding camera, Other than that its good.

Rating:3.5 stars

Picture Quality

Disc Format: Blu-Ray

The picture quality is good but not great. The image is sharp but not as sharp as it could be due to constant movement of camera. Colors pop and the black levels look goo.

Rating:3.5 stars

My Thoughts

SX_Tape is not what you may think it is but it is kind of…Its a scary film with some sex scenes non nudity and is produced by those connected with Paranormal Activity and Insidious, also Candyman.

The film is an ok watch for me not great. I’m not a big fan of found footage / or pov / eyes of a camera type films as this is a found footage type film, I found the film kind of boring at parts and the constant movements of camera isn’t fun to watch. No with that said the film does have its moments and a sick ending, no when I say sick I don’t mean it in its slang wording but more of a nasty, wincing in pain kind of wording.

The good – some nudity, a few jumpy moments with the first one being to most jumpy ( I did jump) sex scenes, and the film can be creepy at times.

The Bad – Not enough nudity, sex scenes aren’t realistic as in when recording a sex scene I know for sure your not just filming the chicks face the whole time, sex scenes are non nudity, not scary but just one or 2 parts, constant camera movements, plot isn’t all that great. Camera Effects like pixelations and distortions were not good, they were over done making them look to good as in the pixels would be straight square boxes that are highly visible making the distortion fake and not realistic.
With that said this type of film isn’t my favorite but with added scary parts tons more nudity, realistic sex scenes and less camera movements and I would enjoy. The ending was gruesome but could have been more painful and realistic if the male portion wasn’t pixelated, not that I want to see. With the film trying to be realistic some acting and effects ruin that for me and plot is just OK so I would have to give this film a 2 out of 5. Would be lower but since it did get me to jump and some nudity parts I up it to 2. I say Rent first and feel it may be worth just the rent.

Note: I Know my speakers are way outdated. OPPO Blu-Ray Player is one of the best around and used in most home theaters. The Receiver is pretty good but on the line of out dated. Subwoofer is good with tons of bass but not the theater quality from a $400 Sub. Front speakers are fun with tons of power and are good for standalone’s but higher end sound (Hz) is lower quality. Overall I need to update on all speakers granted I do get decent sound out of them just the higher end falls short.
