Synopsis

Fritz Haarmann, aka the Butcher of Hanover and the Vampire of Hanover, was a German serial killer responsible for the murders of two dozen boys and young men during the so-called ‘years of crisis’ between the wars. His case would partly inspire Fritz Lang’s M, and its central character portrayed by Peter Lorre, as well as this forgotten gem from 1973.

Tenderness of the Wolves treats the viewer to a few weeks in the company of a killer. Baby-faced and shaven-headed, in a manner that recalls both M and F.W. Murnau’s Nosferatu, Haarmann is a fascinating, repulsive figure. Using his status as a police informant to procure his victims, he dismembers their bodies after death and sells the flesh to restaurants, dumping the remainder out of sight. This isn’t an easy film to watch, but it certainly gets under the skin…- Arrow Video

My Thoughts

Tenderness of the Wolves sounds like a horror film dealing with monsters by title but its a Psycho thriller dealing with a Guy who kills young boys and sells their meat to restaurants. We follow the killer on his few week killing spree of young boys who he has sexual fantasy’s for. This guy is also into vampirism, kissing then biting the necks of his victims.

The story of the film is Good but not great and I feel that the editing could be better with piecing scenes together. What we have here is not a gore laced film but more of the Creepy killer who loves murder. This guy kills then sells pieces of his victims to local restaurants along with their clothes to other stores . For me it gets pretty awkward as we get some male frontal nudity at what looks like young teen boys at times. If they would have made the film less slow and made it more gory showcasing the actual butchering of this youngsters before he sells of the pieces for food would have made this better I feel.

Overall the movie was an OK watch but it did feel slow at times. The story its self is pretty creepy with the killing and selling chopped up people for food. Acting was pretty solid from the main lead playing the killer. The film picks up about 40 minutes in when we start to see the killings. The film has its ups and downs but I feel its worth the watch if your into Serial Killer type films.

With that said I give this based on a true story movie a 3 out of 5 due to its disturbing subject matter. Hit this up if your into a creepy crazy story-line of a Guy who is into vampirism that kills young boys and sell their parts to restaurants. Personally I like the 1931 film called M more.

Note: I Know my speakers are way outdated. OPPO Blu-Ray Player is one of the best around and used in most home theaters. The Receiver is pretty good but on the line of out dated. Subwoofer is good with tons of bass but not the theater quality from a $400 Sub. Front speakers are fun with tons of power and are good for standalone’s but higher end sound (Hz) is lower quality. Overall I need to update on all speakers granted I do get decent sound out of them just the higher end falls short.
