Directed by Duccio Tessari (Death Occurred Last Night, A Pistol for Ringo), The Bloodstained Butterfly melds the lurid giallo traditions popularized by Dario Argento and Mario Bava with courtroom drama, resulting in a film that is as concerned with forensic detail and legal process as it is with grisly murders and audacious set-pieces.
When a young female student is savagely killed in a park during a thunderstorm, the culprit seems obvious: her lover, TV sports personality Alessandro Marchi (Giancarlo Sbragia, Death Rage), seen fleeing the scene of the crime by numerous eyewitnesses. The evidence against him is damning… but is it all too convenient? And when the killer strikes again while Marchi is in custody, it quickly becomes apparent that there s more to the case than meets the eye…

| My Thoughts |
The Bloodstained Butterfly is an Italian Giallo dealing with Mystery and death. A Woman is Killed and a Killer has been caught but did he really do it? He was there an a few people did see him. But maybe it wasn’t? And why was he let go later. Its all a big Mystery.
The story isn’t that big of a plot but has its twists and turns. The first Half and hour we see the police try to solve a Murder of a young lady witnessed by a few kids playing in a wooded area with their mom. A Few other seen a guy running away from the scene and the Police catch up to him. A Trail takes place and he is convicted. But wait! He may not be the guy. As far as the viewer knows and of course the witnesses in the film know is that this is the guy. The film has its twists and turns, some gore and some Nudity.
Overall the film was a good watch but at times can feel slow. The film is more of a Mystery and has a kind of Hitchcock feel to it. I Love those elements and you add some gore and Nipples it just adds to it in a good way. If you’re a fan of Mystery, Italian Giallo films and or A Arrow Video Film Collector you should pick this up.
With that Said I Give The Bloodstained Butterfly a 3.5 out of 5.
