Plot

Actor Lu Chun-ku really hit his stride as a director of mystical kung-fu epics, like Holy Flame Of The Martial World, and this – truly one of the best of its kind.
Hsu Shao-chiang stars as a put-upon illegitimate son of a “Martial Arts World” master, who nearly sacrifices all to learn the “Silkworm Style” — making him a veritable
“Spider-Swordsman”!

That’s just the pay-off to this eye-filling, mind-bending kung-fu phantasmagorical which elicited cries of joyous disbelief in virtually all the cinemas where it was shown. Featuring a top-notch cast including “Venoms” Lo Meng, Sun Chien, and Wang Li,
this extravaganza truly warrants the description: “unforgettable.”

My Thoughts

The film is a swordplay/wire fu or Wuxia type movie that is entertaining and funny at times and the most  deadliest style was called the silkworm lol. Another master from a competing school or clan doesn’t get the last fight,
I am assuming he will in the return of the bastard swordsman.

The film also sports two of the deadly venom mob, Lo Feng(The Toad) is the son of the master from  the opposing side and Sun Chien (The Scorpion) is one of the Two head students of the other clan where the bastard was raised in.
Lo Feng disappears half way in the film after all the focus is pushed on the guy who is trying to take over the clan that holds the silkworm skill by joining the clan after his fake mother and sister died in a fight.

The film has some crazy wire work and reminds me of other movies like star wars. Yes there are 3 times when a laser is fired off . The matrix  when the bastard swordsman traps a guy in a silk worm cocoon and fly’s in side and then explodes
(Neo when he jumps in side smiths body) and crouching tiger hidden dragon when the master is walking on top of some trees.

The Quality of the film for a DVD is pretty good almost like Blu-Ray. The dubbing of the film is a new dubbing but I find it not that bad compared to soul of the sword where it was more irritating.

For what the film was, I was entertained and it had a few good  lol’s. On a different day I would probably give this a rating of a  3.5
or a 4 but for today I enjoyed myself so i give this film a

4.5 out of 5
