Film Synopsis

Manufacturing just 50 grams of meth in China will earn you a death sentence.

Timmy Choi (Louis Koo) just got caught making tons.

Now he’s in the custody of Captain Zhang (Sun Honglei), and has one chance to avoid execution – turn informant and help the cops bring down the powerful cartel he’s been cooking for. Over the next 72 sleepless hours, the sting spins out of control, the line between duty and recklessness is blurred, and it becomes unclear who actually has the upper hand.

From Johnnie To, master of the Hong Kong crime thriller, comes an unnerving thrill ride through the modern criminal underworld. -Well Go USA

Audio/Video

Audio

Audio Format(s): Chinese

The Audio is great over all.  The guns sound pretty good with deep bass ringing out after each shot. The Score was also great but what made me rate this at a 3.5 is that in some parts of the film when an actor is yelling the sound gets distorted some.

Rating:3.5 stars

Video

Disc Format: Blu-Ray

Over all the film looked great on Blu- Ray  deep colors and blacks. The blood looked realistic

My Thoughts

Possibly one of my favorite Blu-Rays of the Year.

Drug War explodes at the end with intense gun fights and ended in a Shaw Brother Esc Kind of way.  Wow this film is great, You follow cops chasing drug lords or sellers throughout the film with one guy who is the bad guy helping the police as he has no choice. You get a few set ups 2 very good shoot out scenes and an execution. Blood fly’s after each shot with a very great sounded and deep bassed gun effects. The Lead actor who is the Sargent of the police has to act like a few different guys to keep the set ups going and he is very good at switching up his character.

If you want intense shoot out scenes, fun police set ups and great acting you need to buy this film in October. I don’t need to say more about this but I enjoyed this a lot and I recommend action film fans to buy.

I give Drug War A  5 out of 5
