| My Thoughts |
Vengeance of an Assassin brings you that great Thai action we all love. The opening scene was fun but weird and then it makes sense right after that scene is over. The film then opens to a good story line that doesn’t fit the tittle of the film just yet as you are taking in the lives of a father and kids or should I say Uncle, with a small flash back of the first day they open up there new business that is Working on Vehicles in a Garage. Skip To another scene of a guy getting his Head blown off and a bunch of People getting shot up in a restaurant. This shows us the movie will have good fight scenes but also some gun Violence and gore.
Now Lets get into Why the film is not a 5 Star Film. The editing isn’t that good, seems sloppy with scene to scene edits with no explication how they got there or how it ended up to where they were headed sort of scenarios. Lets not forget to mention there are 2 story lines running side by side that doesn’t seem to fit the film, or how does this story line relate to the Kid and Father or Uncle. One minute you’re at a Garage working or cars then suddenly a gun fight in a Restaurant, a kidnapping. But An Hour in every thing mixes with still some Questions and Confusion.
The good. Now the fights are fun but it’s mostly Guns and Weapons with a good amount gore and crazy ruthless death scenes like a guy getting his head pushed into a big fan blade. Lots of throats getting cut and Close range Sniper rifle Shot. The last 30 minutes is when we get tons of action and more knee’s and Elbows with tons of hard hits that make you go ooh, that had to hurt.
Now you take away the bad cuts and confusing mix in story lines and find away to intertwine them better in the beginning, the film could have been a pretty good movie with great action and gore.
Overall the film is still a good watch with 2 story lines that eventually merge. Lots of action, bad editing, great sound and Picture quality, the movie is still worth renting or picking up to see Panna Rittikrai’s last work. Again I must say Great Action…But I still don’t know why that one chick was kidnapped for and how the Guys Uncle knew the Main bad Guy.
With all that said I give the film a 3.5 out of 5 thanks to its action and gore. Pick it up check it.
