Plot

The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets.

As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents’ disappearance – leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr. Curt Connors (Ifans), his father’s former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors’ alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.

My Thoughts

The amazing spider man was a fun watch with scenes that wowed me and some scenes  not so much. With a few tweaks this could have been a real good movie but it’s just ok.

For me this is on the edge of buy then rent.  Action hero/ marvel/ comic fans/ kids I would say its a buy but for the rest its a rent. Me I’m in all the categories I just listed lol.

The Pros of the movie are the story line, most of the actors they got to play the roles, the score, the visual effects, the Blu-Ray quality and some scenes that have a wow factor in them like some of the swinging scenes where the camera is positioned as a first person view and are thinking that spider-man is gonna hit the ground after letting go of the web-line.

The cons for me are the parts they made for 3D as they don’t look good in 2D, the cocky-ness of spider-man on one scene where he is fighting a cop (he is mature but then all of a sudden he is a douche), and for a big part of what I don’t like of the movie is….Spider-man doesn’t have real webs….Whaaaat. He has to create them with a mechanism he created.
That for me made me drop a whole 1 star. I hated that, spider man is not tony stark.

Another con is I didn’t like the Andrew Garfiels as Peter Parker. As for who I think should play peter… I have no Idea ..If the Spider-man 3 didn’t go the way it did this should have been 3 with Tobey Maguire. As for the other actors I loved. Sexy Emma Stone, Martin sheen, and Dennis Leary did great a great job in my eyes.

Over all he film is a good and fun watch, love the bad guy and the effects. The whole high-definition part as it looks like candy. The amazing spider man has a more teen flick feel but less drama then The first 3 spider-man movies.

Some notes that some may find they don’t like about the film but I like the changes are that peter doesn’t have a best friend who is rich, I heard some say they hated the way he turned into spidy as he was bitten by a mutant spider that was created in the lab…… huh?  that’s the way it should be as if your bitten by a normal spider it’s not gonna work realistically.  That factor made it more realistic and I welcomed that part.

With all that said above I give this movie a 3.5… If I wasn’t a fan of comic movies, I would probably give it a 3 just because over all its still has a fun factor.

Final words are it’s not as good as the first two Spider-man films of the past but definitely better than the 3rd film of that series.
