Starring: Ice-T, Michael McFadden, Airen DeLaMater, Chris James Boylan
Directed: Dan Lantz
Studio: Speakeasy Pictures
Format: Blu-Ray
About:
It’s 1933 and prohibition has proven very profitable for corrupt cops like Jack Malone. He collects ‘luxury tax’ from every bootlegger and scofflaw in town. Shaking down the newly opened speakeasy should’ve been simple, but instead, Jack and his men uncover a clan of vampires hell bent on taking over the town.
My Review:
Bloodrunners is a Vampire Movie set in the Prohibition days. We have Cops, Bootleggers, speakeasy’s,whore houses, old time cars, Vampires and Ice-T. Most of the Vampire Stuff hits at the end so for the most part its corrupt police shaking down a new speakeasy for money with Ice-T being the Main entertainment in the Club but not the Boss of the Club as well, I’m not gonna give some plot away. Of course Ice-T plays the Bad guy, a vampire and if you can put everything together you can see that this plot deals with bootlegging blood as the club is a front to a front.
The Film is a decent watch with good acting but also on a low-budget. So at some points the low Budget factor will kick in like the ridding in a car with two actors talking feels like a Scene out of Seinfeld on how it looks. Some CGI and gore but the portions could have been better looking if were piratical effects like a portion were a guys head get blow in half. Low budget aside, the film was shot nicely with a great looking Picture Quality on Blu-Ray. The sound could use some work. In order to make the Vampires fast they slowed down the action which in some spots were fun to see but in others it felt like a shortcut. Some of the dialogue came of cheesy, mostly some one liners that were a miss. The story in it self was good, not great but fun. Who doesn’t like Vampire Gangsters with Tommy-guns.
The Film has its ups and downs but overall for me I did Enjoy the watch with a few spots it felt out-of-place. For the budget it works but again wish piratical effects were used in some spots.
With that said I give this film a 3 out of 5. I would say give it a shot, buy or more so wait until hit hits Netflix if it does. It’s worth a Peep. Just don’t go in thinking its a full horror film as most of the supernatural stuff is at the end.
