| Synopsis |
Branded as a “video nasty” in the UK, director Luigi Cozzi’s Contamination takes the premise of Ridley Scott’s classic Alien and peppers it with exploding guts galore and a dangerously infectious soundtrack from celebrated Italian prog-rockers Goblin (Deep Red, Suspiria).
A cargo ship drifts up the Hudson River. Its crew: all dead, their bodies horribly mutilated, turned inside out by an unknown force. Its freight: boxes upon boxes of glowing, pulsating green eggs. It soon becomes clear that these eggs are not of this planet, and someone intends to cultivate them here on Earth. But who? And to what end?

Picture Quality Disc Format: Blu-Ray The Picture Quality is pretty good but at first I Thought is was going to be bad due to the first scene that is filled with grain black dots and low quality black levels. But then the next scene came and it was surprisingly sharp, vibrant and white and black levels were great. Rating: |

| My Thoughts |
Contamination is an inside explosion of a good time. Welcome to 80’s cheese with big mustaches and overly big helmets filled with comedy where it’s not meant. like one guy smiling in the back after his insides exploded. It was a great chuckle moment, also the guy had a big mustache and looked like Cheech Marin.
The film is filled with green exploding eggs, lots of gore and not so great dubbing fitment. Its cheese ,but its good even though at parts it does run slow. Arrow’s release of this film boasts good extras, great picture quality and good sound.
Overall the film was a fun run that any 80’s low-budget horror film fans would enjoy. Slap in the Blu and experience great picture quality with blood, gore, fun and odd storyline. Who doesn’t like people exploding due to a weird-looking green egg that exploding and releasing its insides onto its victims. Also want to point out when the scientists test this ooze like stuff on a mouse it explodes and it was pretty realistic and would not be surprised if it was real. It’s not but it looks it besides the bending of the rubber needle.
With that said I give the film a 4 out of 5. Happy to have this on my shelf along with Arrow’s first Blu-Ray slip cover here in the US.
