My Thoughts |
Francesca is a Modern Italian Giallo film made to look like it was filmed in the 70’s. With it’s over use of yellow and blue filters and adding old film affects the Picture Quality takes a Hit. It’s Not bad as colors do pop mainly red but sharpness is low until good close-ups. Sound Quality is pretty good with good bassy sounds at times. The Film hits most or if not all of what a Giallo film is made of, Murder, Mystery, Horror, Gloves, an Inspector, a Killer and so forth. Check the link for a full Definition.
The story was Good but Dialogue is minimal with a score that can go from cool sounding to a more wacky tune to a disco vibe. But I did enjoy the score for the most part and with added extras we also are given a CD to enjoy the music. Gore and death scenes were decent and fun but like an older film it doesn’t get to deep into showing the action like a Knife sliding into flesh. I Do Like the way its shot and how it hits Que’s of those older films with camera movements and placements. The film yes the story Is good but at times it lags and on another con side of things the Subtitles pop up before the talking begins.
Over all The film was good and fun to see the emulation of the an older films with its more artistic approach. If your fan of Giallo Films then I would say give this a shot
With that said I give Francesca a 3.5 out of 5.
