Theresa McDermott has chased her “ideal” life as an urban-dwelling, punk(ish) singer-songwriter to the very end of its possible existence. She is broke, options have run out and she happens to have a few kids she is raising on her own since their dad split a year ago. Facing eviction and nowhere to go, Theresa packs up her children and what is left of her life and moves back to the small rural town, childhood home and parents she deliberately ran from a decade ago.

Her parents’ mutual misery and depressingly gloomy lives were a “downer” she felt had no place in her fun city life. Yet from the moment Theresa drives back up her old driveway, it is clear that there have been some major changes. Her parents, armed with a plethora of hobbies, a hot tub and a new philosophy, are not exactly the old folks she left behind. Theresa needs a job, her parents need their space and a painful family history needs some closure. Old wounds, unattainable dreams, and some “other things” are exposed as a fractured family works to become whole and a woman with a few kids learns to become a mother. – Garden Thieves Pictures

Audio Language: English

The Sound Quality is Decent is Good for DVD but not the best. Some clipping can be heard in a part or two but other then that, the dialogue is clear.

Rating: 3 stars

Picture Quality

Disc Format: DVD

The Picture Quality is Good for DVD but just like the Audio it could be better. Not as sharp as some DVDs, you get some pixelation in distant shots but colors seem fine.

My Thoughts

Theresa is a Mother is about a Mother who is trying to make it in life with three daughters who also is an inspiring singer/song writer. What we have here is a film about daily life mixed with comedy and family. The story is good and different on some levels. The comedy is fun, the acting was good and the youngsters did a good job.

Theresa I have to say isn’t that great on the vocals but she try’s and seems like she is some what stuck in the past as she plays out life of a teenager more than an adult but when it comes to here kids she is more responsible. Now with that said you find out at the end what has been going on and why Theresa is a songwriter/ singer, It deals with a Family tragedy that affect this entire family and still does at present day when we are following.

Over all for me the move was a decent watch but not in My wheel house of films to view. Now I’m not hating it nor loving it but I have to say the film has good reviews and has won a few rewards. I loved parts of the film like the more child like portions like Theresa riding a bike around town looking for work. The way she dressing and how each character has a different mood and or personalty you don’t see much in films.

With that said I give this film a 3 out of 5 stars. Check the Trailer, Check the Synapses an maybe the film will appeal to you . Normally this would not be a film I would check out but I’m happy I did as it brings something different.

Note: I Know my speakers are way outdated. OPPO Blu-Ray Player is one of the best around and used in most home theaters. The Receiver is pretty good but on the line of out dated. Subwoofer is good with tons of bass but not the theater quality from a $400 Sub. Front speakers are fun with tons of power and are good for standalone’s but higher end sound (Hz) is lower quality. Overall I need to update on all speakers granted I do get decent sound out of them just the higher end falls short.
