About:
Bloody revenge is at the heart of this stylish, kinetic action-thriller that gives a welcome shot of adrenaline to the classic femme fatale story. Honed from childhood into a merciless killing machine by a criminal organization, assassin Sook-hee is recruited as a sleeper agent with the promise of freedom after ten years of service – and she jumps at the chance for a normal life. But soon enough, secrets from her past destroy everything she s worked for, and now nobody can stand in her way as she embarks on a roaring rampage of revenge.
My Review::
The Villainess is an Adrenalin rush action packed Bloody Film that follows are main female lead through out the ups and downs of a company trying to control her. Sook-hee is a trained assassin tough since childhood. Her mentor is killed so her new life dives deep into a government agency who is trying to use her but Sook Slowly finds out what happened in her past that gets the story twisted.
The Story is an OK follow filled with some flashbacks to help the story move. The Problem with the story is its drawn out and is in need of some work. For the most part Charter build up is minimal and you never get much feelings for the cast. But the shining star to the film is the action which is packed with great work and a bloody mess. The other star is the camera work during those fights. We get a mix of hardcore Henry and during that portion a break away from first person to 2nd person and even body jumping to the enemy as first person. The break away points are as if you’re in the mix of the action flying all over the crime scene at close up and distant shots as a ton of guys are getting sliced up. The action portions alone are worth the viewing. The story has a hard follow but we do get a plot. If it were shortened and added more action, the film could be a better hit but its in need of better story-line write-up. I want to feel for the players more.
Overall it’s still a fun ride. If you’re in need for some blood and action with a crazy camera style to get you in the middle of the blood fest, well you’re in luck. With an OK story that might be better during a second viewing, great action and gore, and camera work along with great Blu-Ray Picture quality its worth owning and putting in your collection.
With that said I give this film a 4 out of 5 thanks to the action and camera work. I was on the edge of 3.5 or a 4 but after re-looking at how the action is played out, it gets the higher nudge just like ONG BAK.
Pick it up.
