Synopsis |
When Nick (Ice Cube, Barbershop) falls for single mother Suzanne (Nia Long, Big Momma’s House), he initially doesn’t have to worry about what her kids think of him because she just wants to be friends. Undeterred by this statement – or his buddies, who dog him for loitering in the stalking-friend zone – Nick keeps hanging around. So when Suzanne finds herself in a jam and needs someone to escort her kids to meet her in Vancouver for New Year’s Eve, Nick gladly opens the door of opportunity. It could be the best way to win her heart… or the biggest mistake of his life. With more than one destination on his mind, Nick embarks on a road trip he’ll never forget – and neither will you!

Audio Audio Language: English Sound Quality is good but not great. No distortions but we are giving a Digital 2.0 so all the sound is up front meaning no surround sound. That’s the Downfall for the Sound but it still does sound good. |
Picture Quality Disc Format: Blu-Ray The Picture Quality is pretty good. Sharp, popping colors and black levels seem to look good as well but could use a bit more work for that 100% |

My Thoughts |
Are We There Yet? is a Family Comedy starring Ice Cube playing a guy who hates kids but learns to love the ones he is watching for his New only in the Friend Zone Girlfriend. Now the film is over the top and to the point it hurts the film but one of the most over the top scenes I did find my self Laughing, which is the whole deer fight scene.
The story is minimal, the comedy isn’t much, and at one point I did get annoyed by the two kid. Acting wise the kids did good but also at the same time portions of it seemed fake. The film may not be for everyone and I understand its more playable for kids with the more silly and over the top actions. For me the movie was just OK, It has its drama, and heart that make you feel for the situation at the end but it just needs more of it. Ice Cube Does a good job keeping the film going which most of it hangs on his back.
Overall I did find myself watching and not getting bored but at that same time I did nitpick it during unrealistic situations that were played out as it is heavy with the slapstick. Personally I would like to hear what the age group that this film plays for say about the film. The film had its downs but it also has some ups. Take away some of the animated stuff like the talking bobble-head, the whole explosion of the SUV with the kids and cube jumping out of the way like an action scene atone down the kids a tad, and extend the ended and the film would be better for me.
With that said I give this film a 2.5 out of 5. Not a bad rating and I have to say for a new released Blu-Ray at this price with that Picture quality is a pretty good deal. I Say if you’re a Family movie viewer check it out. Better than other over the top family films.
