Film Synopsis

Not content with his job as a bouncer, Doug Glatt (Seann William Scott) dreams of a more rewarding job and gaining his parents respect. When a chance encounter with an on-ice thug leads to a fist fight that Doug easily wins, the on-looking coach sees Doug’s potential, in spite of his lack of any hockey playing ability. Joining the team and with the encouragement of his best friend (Jay Baruchel), Doug quickly becomes a rising star. Soon he’ll have the opportunity to face-off against the infamous league thug, Ross Rhea (Liev Schreiber), perhaps finally land a girlfriend and stick to a job he enjoys. Now all he needs to do is learn to skate.

My Thoughts

Goon starring  Seann William Scott Was surprisingly good. The movie also stars Alison Pill who is in the new hbo show The newsroom.  Seann William Scott plays a guy who isn’t like most of his other characters he plays, (a fast talking jerk) in fact he is a man of few words. He plays a guy who isnt to bright, always stumbling on what to say. But on the other hand he his a fighter with hard hands and a hard head who gets a chance to show his skills on the ice. No he doesnt show off by hitting a puck but by hitting his opponents face.

The action is fun to watch the comedy  side was fun as well but also the movie has some heart making you feel for Seann William Scott. The fight aftermath effects were pretty cool  with blood spilling teeth flying and cuts across the face. Seann William Scott character gets pretty beat up and his face is just a wreck …I loved that.

I would say Seann William Scott fits the roll pretty good and would like to see more serious films by him. You don’t have to be a hockey fan to enjoy the film, most of the movie was more on the fight aspect of hocky istead of the game itself. Some things I didn’t like too much was Jay Baruchel who I feel played it over the top and didn’t like the charictor to much. You Can say he was annoying

I give this film a good rating  because I came in thinking the movie would be dumb but was surprised. It had good action, funny moments but not funny all the way through, and Sean William Scott Played the character pretty well even though his movie lines were minimal. The movie has its pros and cons and some may not like the movie but im on the other end I enjoyed it and if you don’t want to buy it and if you have Netflix (as of 8-4-12) then go check it out.

I give this film a 4 out 5.
