Synopsis

Are you eating it …or is it eating you?

The Stuff is the new dessert taking supermarket shelves by storm. It’s delicious, low in calories and – better still – doesn’t stain the family carpet… What’s not to like?! Well, for a start it has a life of its own, and we’re not talking friendly live bacteria…

Young Jason seems to be the only one who doesn’t love The Stuff – in fact he won’t go anywhere near it, after having seen the pudding crawling around the fridge one night. What’s more, everyone who eats The Stuff has started acting really weird… Now, teaming up with wise-cracking industrial saboteur “Mo”, Jason must put a stop to The Stuff and the organisation behind it or face a gooey, gloopy demise.

Coming courtesy of horror auteur Larry Cohen (director of the It’s Alive series and scribe behind the Maniac Cop trilogy), The Stuff is a titillating treat for the taste-buds which blends elements of films such as Street Trash with the straight-up B-movie flavour of The Blob. So grab a spoon and dig on into The Stuff – the taste that delivers… much more than you bargained for!

Picture Quality

Disc Format: Blu-Ray

The Picture Quality is good but in dark scenes the film grain can get pretty heavy taking away from the vibrant color and sharpness. Well lit scenes and close-ups provide great details with sharp texture and popping colors. But hey, looking at the old DVD version I must say this Blu-Ray blows it away.

My Thoughts

The Stuff is a Horror film that is like The Blob but in food product form also its White. The Plot is not that big but fun and funny at times. The stuff comes from the ground and the for some odd reason the guy who found it tasted it. Any who they sell it and it becomes addictive as The Stuff Slowly takes over its host and it can leave at any time leaving the person face distorted as it’s exiting.

The Acting is OK, Action wise the punching and two hand fist attacks are pretty low-grade but the fire, explosions and gunfire come out near the end. Plot wise its fun and funny but not sure if its meant that, maybe it is because it’s just an insane concept. At One Point when The Stuff is Banned it is treated like a drug being sold on corners.

Overall the film the film was a fun watch. Yes it over the top Horror mixed with some comedy and the plot is just OK mixed with are lead Male who for some reason Knows everything but its weird, bizarre Horror that has some gore, Hey Pop it and enjoy it.

With that said I give The Stuff a 3.5 out of 5 for its fun factor. Corny at time and outdated the film still has an enjoyment factor to offer for Horror fans. Pick it up and put it in your collection on a Plus side the Art Work looks Great.

Note: I Know my speakers are way outdated. OPPO Blu-Ray Player is one of the best around and used in most home theaters. The Receiver is pretty good but on the line of out dated. Subwoofer is good with tons of bass but not the theater quality from a $400 Sub. Front speakers are fun with tons of power and are good for standalone’s but higher end sound (Hz) is lower quality. Overall I need to update on all speakers granted I do get decent sound out of them just the higher end falls short.
