My Thoughts

Memories of the Sword is a Wuxa sword play twisted into a Love Story film that has some nice action. Yes the Movie for me runs a little long and at times can get a tad confusing with all the flashbacks but when we hit the half way mark the film becomes much better. The action isn’t a ton but when it hits it is a good fun watch.

The film also has a decent amount of training scenes and the gore factor was OK for a sword film. The story has a few story’s running within the film and this what makes the film somewhat hard to follow and at times it keeps going back and forth on what the main plot is, like it was trying to find it self. Some of the more sad scenes they should have worked on more like building the relationship between the main lead and her brother. The last half hour is when the swords stay out and more blood fly’s and in fact the house scene has a Sword of doom and or one of the Zatoichi films with the blood flying on the rice paper doors.

Over all the movie was a good watch with good action, good look Picture Quality and good Sound Quality. The story was still good but not perfect but what the film does it tries to bring in all emotions except for one that is I dont think there was one funny moment. Add more action, trim it a tad and perfect the story more while taking out the semi love story between the main lead and the guy she fights with and we could have had a better film.

With that said I give Memories of the Sword a 4 out of 5 and feel that if your into new Asian action films you should pick it up and or if you’re a Well Go USA supporter.

Note: I Know my speakers are way outdated. OPPO Blu-Ray Player is one of the best around and used in most home theaters. The Receiver is pretty good but on the line of out dated. Subwoofer is good with tons of bass but not the theater quality from a $400 Sub. Front speakers are fun with tons of power and are good for standalone’s but higher end sound (Hz) is lower quality. Overall I need to update on all speakers granted I do get decent sound out of them just the higher end falls short.
