Rating: 4.5 out of 5 | Starring: Yu Wang, Feng Tien, Pei-pei Shu, Chung-Hsin Release Date: 1968 Run Time: 110 Minutes Format: DVD Distributor: Funimation Entertainment | |
Plot |
This Shaw Brothers classic, masterfully directed by Hua Shan (The 14 Amazons), is a
harrowing lesson in achieving the coveted Number One sword-wielding status.
Ti Lung (Opium and the Kung- Fu Master, A Better Tomorrow) is the Nameless
Swordsman bent on defeating the faceless King of Swords to claim the title,
and the glory, for himself.
Hordes of fighters lunge from the shadows to cut down the mysterious challenger.
Even a cunning seductress takes a stab at him in a revealing bath house assassination.
It is said that a man s weapon reflects his utmost dreams, desires and fears. A warrior
with no name and one motive has a soul as merciless as cold steel.
My Thoughts |
This is a sword play film with a good amount of blood shed. It is about a sword that has
powers. (Nothing to crazy though)
Every one wants this sword so they can have the power to be unstoppable.
After the master who is the swords protector dies the sword is given to Jimmy Wang’s character but he is not allowed to use the sword. This is where jimmy faces tough decisions and a lot of people die because he can’t use the sword and or fall into a trap and let the others take the sword.
This is a great film with a good plot and lots of action and blood shed. You wont be disappointed this is classic Shaw Brothers film. This Movie has its moments of drama, sadness and a few scenes were you are feeling for Jimmy’s character as if you want him to kill every one for what they have done.
I don’t want to give away the movie so go get this. The movie belongs in your collection. The ending is classic Shaw Brothers.
With some scenes with some weird cuts and some character development that could have been explained more like Jimmy’s wife and child, they come out of nowhere. But that is all of what’s wrong with the film. For that I my rating for the film is:
4.5 0ut of 5
