Plot

He was Itto Ogami, a man who held himself to the harsh code of Bushido, entrusted by the Shogun with the gravest of responsibilities, that of official executioner. His flashing blade brought swift release to those ordered to commit Seppuku, ritual suicide – be they man, woman, or even child.

He was Itto Ogami, falsly accused of treason by the evil Yagyu Clan, stripped of his position; his wife murdered by Yagyu assassins.

He was Itto Ogami, a father who gave his infant son a terrible choice between a beautiful red ball and a sword. To choose the ball meant to join his mother in the Void, to choose the sword meant to join his father, now a Ronin, a samurai without a master, in a terrible journey that must end in revenge and death.

Now Ogami and his son are no more, and through the countryside of Japan stalks – AnimEgo

My Thoughts

Lone Wolf and Cub Gets even better as it gets the Blu-Ray Treatment. The Picture Quality compared to the DVD PQ is a lot better as colors are more vibrant and not faded, no blurry faces or pixelated scenes, just the smooth shot of the blood flowing from cuts produced by Ogami Ittō’s blade as Daigorō sits in his cart watching the whole thing go down on Blu-Ray.

Lone Wolf and Cub the Blu-Ray Collocation packs 6 films onto 2 discs and some may say that has to take down the Quality of the film. But from my eyes it looks clear, sharp  and colorful. You can view the pics below to see for your self. I feel this is the best release so far for the set, way better than the DVD set. For those who did buy this and have viewed it, I would like to hear from you.

Lone Wolf and Cub for me has to be the best Asian Cinema Collection Set. The set is in my top 5 of all film sets. I Really Enjoy the films and I feel its a must own for any one who likes action, On Blu-Ray or on DVD You need to get the films.
Lone Wolf and Cub is filled with Great story’s, tons of blood spraying like fountains and a good amount of topless Women. But of course the films go deeper then just what I have said. You might need to view the whole set more times to find this out As for the first viewing you will be more drawn in at the remarks I have just said above.

In Sword of Vengeance You find out why Ogami Ittō’ is on the path of hell, His wife is murdered and  Ogami Ittō gives his son Daigorō ( Who is just a year or so old) a choose To take the sword and follow him on the path of hell and seek revenge or take the ball and follow his mother in death. Daigorō Takes the sword and now they are both on the journey of bloodshed. The two go by Lone Wolf and Cub and they are for hire as assassins.  They take jobs through out the 6 films each costing 500 gold and after you get to the end you find out  all of the jobs relate to Lone wolf and Cubs Revenge

In Baby Cart at the River Styx The Evil Yagyu Retsudo, The guy who killed Lone wolf and cubs wife/mother sends out a deadly female Ninja Clan. While being hunted down by the deadly females he Takes an assassination job and must kill a traitor who is protected by three men who are called The Gods of Death. The film has some great kills and some funny moments and The Gods of Death are great characters.

Baby Cart to Hades you find Ogami Ittō being torture to buy the freedom of a girl who was bought for Prostitution. Afterwards the people who did the torturing hire  Ogami to kill a corrupt Governor. The body count for this film is high as Lone wolf and Cub cut down a whole army.

In Baby Cart in Peril you get to see a tattooed female killer who Ogami Ittō was hired to kill. But after a chat he finds out why she was to be killed as she was rapped buy the clan whop hired Lone wolf and Cub to take her down. Does he take her down or does he take down the Guys who hired him? You gotta watch. You will also get more knowledge on why Lone wold and cub is on the path they are on and why they sent hitmen to kill his wife.

Baby Cart in the Land of Demons is a little weird as in 5 warriors hire Lone Wold and Cub but he has to defeat them one by one to get the info for the job. They are testing his skills to see if he  is lone wolf and Cub. He kills the last one and gathers all the Intel and his job? Its to kill a guy who dresses his daughter in  boy clothes so she can be the Leader of the clan…Only Boys can do this. Some more body’s drop limbs are flying every where ,rivers of blood flowing as for Lone Wolf and Cub do they make it. They got to as there is one more film.

White Heaven in Hell the last film Does Lone Wolf and Cub Get his Vengeance, I wont give that away you got to watch.  Lets just say in this film some weird stuff go’s down and for the first time Ogami Ittō might have fear as he is sheltering him self and Daigorō in the middle of nowhere, where the ground is full of snow. This film features samurai on sleds, ski’s and 3 evil men who seem to be the walking dead.  O and about 100,00 more men take Ogami Ittō’s Blade

During the films you will also witness Ogami Ittō’s son Daigorō kill a few guys and touch a few breasts because he is the man even though he is only I don’t know 5 or 6 maybe 7 by the end.  Daigorō also has to eyes of a killer who feels now pain and you will see what I am saying about when you view the films. Lets say  Daigorō is my fave person in the film.

So Much to say about the films. It’s so good I’m Going to watch all 6 films again. For how good the films are as a whole and now how it looks on Blu-Ray I give the set a 5 out of 5 Go buy the set now, if don’t have it your missing out.

  1. Been a fan since 82 when I first watched a compilation of the series labeled as “Shogun Assasin” when released here in the states. Did not realize it was a compilation of six films until many years later. Also did not realize there was a T.V. series of the same manga story, cult classic, I hope when it’s remade the directors don’t screw it up, but I have a bad feeling already about it. Same director from fast and the furious wants to remake this. Where’s Ippiki ookami when you need him!
